Diazepam (Valium´) 1.0 IV (Max of 5 mg)
Xylazine (Rompun´) 1 IV
2 IM, SQ
Ketamine (Vetalar´, Ketaset´) 10-30 IM

INJECTABLE ANESTHETICS

Pentobarbital (Nembutal´) 30 IV
INHALATION ANESTHETICS
Induction Maintenance
Methoxyflurane (Metofane´)  No longer available.
Fluothane (Halothane´) 3-4% 0.3-1.0%
Isoflurane (Aerrane´, Isoflo´) 1-5% 1-3%

ANALGESICS

Hydromorphone 0.2 IM
Carprofen 4.4 SC
Hydromorphone and Carprofen given during or after surgery.  May be repeated once daily until animal deemed nonpainful.
Oxymorphone (Numorphan´) 0.4 - 1.5 IV, IM (Must be given with tranquilizer, e.g. acepromazine 0.05-0.1 mg/kg IM, IV
Xylazine (Rompun´) 0.1 IV
2 IM, SQ
Butorphanol (Torbutrol´, Stadol´) 0.4 SQ
Buprenorphine (Buprenex´) 0.005-0.01 SQ, IM q 12 hr
Meperidine (Demerol´) 2-10 SQ, IM q 2 hr
