Additional Drug Information

The drugs listed are the commonly used veterinary drugs for sedation and anesthesia. While many other drugs and dosages can be used. 

Another page of information regarding rat analgesics is posted.

Descriptions of various gas anesthetics, injectable anesthetics and analgesics are available.  All controlled substances, including ketamine, have to comply with our WSU and federal guidelines.

In case you do not know, metofane is no longer available.

If you want more information on other drugs and dosages, please contact one of our veterinarians.

Our goal is to make sure animals are properly sedated and/or anesthetized, and there are many different ways and agents to use to achieve this goal. Beware of the hazards of waste anesthetic gases in the laboratory. 

Ethrane and enthrane are names for enflurane.   Enflurane is used in the same way as isoflurane and halothane.
