SUBJ:     Updated Information for Shipping Animals to Washington State University in Pullman , Washington   (See attached Transportation Rules)

Counter-to-counter supervised shipping occurs via Alaska-Horizon Gold Streak service. (see http://www.alaskaair.com/www2/cargo/AS_QX_CargoIndex.asp ). Prices on Alaska-Horizon anywhere in the country for small carriers of regular cargo are: $98.00 and $145.00 for ÏGold Streak.Ó Emory also has a service called ÏEmory ExpediteÓ that will fly animals to Spokane and then deliver them to Pullman in a climate controlled vehicle. Please make every effort to use them as the primary carriers for animal shipments to Washington State University (WSU). The current system using freight company trucks to ship animals from Seattle to Spokane to Pullman is delicate and difficult for these animals to say the least.

Please re-arrange your shipping instructions for research animals coming to WSU . Alaska-Horizon flies direct to Pullman , where we have made arrangements for safe-keeping until WSU Central Receiving employees can pick them up. Suggest to vendors to use their Gold Streak service to transport the animals. Emory also has an ¹Emory ExpediteÓ service using the Spokane airport and then will deliver them to WSU®s Central Receiving dock in acclimatized vehicles. Please use either one.

We thank you and your staff for helping improve the safe transit of these valuable animals.

The company that Taconic is using is Marken.  Their phone # is (800) 932-6755.  They are currently picking up some animals at JFK Airport in NY next Tuesday and somehow bringing them here to the below address by way of a temperature-controlled vehicle.  Carmella from Taconic tells me they are very accommodating.  She said ask for Paul, John or Steve (Steve is very helpful).  Since they are already bringing some animals here on Wednesday, maybe they can somehow get these animals you want sent from Texas .  Feel free to call Barbara or me if you need help getting them here.
